From the “clean girl” to the new “mob-wife” makeup trends, we’ve seen new looks constantly popping up on social media platforms like Tiktok and Instagram. So, let’s talk about the most recent one we’ve been seeing — hint, we’re obsessed.

Sometimes doing the same makeup routine before a night out can get a little repetitive and boring; using the same products and following the same steps. If you’re looking to try something new with your makeup, we’ve got you covered. Let’s break down the effortless “tired girl” makeup trend that’s perfect for a night out this winter.

This dark-eyed makeup look has been seen on many celebrities such as Amelia Gray Hamlin and Lily-Rose Depp, but the one seen lately with the most influence on the trend is chef, model, and artist Gabbriette Bechtel. She’s the girlfriend of The 1975 singer Matty Healy and has a growing following on Tiktok (@gabbriettebb) of 370k followers. Her particular dark makeup has grown incredibly popular and has people all over social media attempting to recreate her “tired girl” makeup look.

In a 2023 interview with Vogue, Gabbriette spilled some of her secrets to achieving the look, “‘It’s eyeliner, eyeshadow, and then I put my eyebrows on. I have this little eyebrow pencil that I bought at CVS.’” Her technique is simple, and the dark look is something perfect for a night of partying or even just drinks with friends.

So, how can you rock this look at home? The makeup look is mostly about the eyes, so focusing in on the water lines with dark eye shadow or liner is the way to go. You can do a wing, add a dark gray or black eye shadow to the lids, or even smoke out the eye if you’re really feeling it! You could also rock this look with a metallic silver eyeshadow. This makeup is usually completed with a darker nude, glossy lip. You can find any of these items at your local drugstore, just like Gabbriette! Don’t be afraid to make the look your own, play around with what works and looks best on you! Let us know if you try it out!
