What We Can Expect From Taylor Swift's New Era Aesthetic

A classic look that will never go out of style.

Taylor Swift recently announced her brand new album The Tortured Poets Department after winning her 13th Grammy, and it’s no surprise that Taylor Swift’s Style as a whole comes with a big Reputation. She’s not shy when it comes to dropping hints about her art, and her Grammy’s look is just the beginning of what’s to come in this new era. As anticipation builds for the artist’s new release, fans are taking a look back at Taylor’s recent looks along with what they may mean for the new album’s aesthetic, and the future of her style as a whole.

Swift stepped into this new era on the Grammy’s red carpet in a tight, corseted white dress – an outfit that wasn’t complete without her iconic red lip. The Schiaparelli dress created an ethereal feeling of draped bed sheets, which we now know are included in the new album’s cover. Taylor also wore a custom-made art deco watch by Concord that was inset into a Lorraine Schwartz choker. Specifically set to midnight, this may have been the only allusion to her Midnights album incorporated into her look, as her outfit did not reflect the sparkly 1970s aesthetic of the era. At first, the long black gloves seemed like a weird outfit addition to the ensemble, but we now know that she was alluding to The Tortured Poets Department color scheme.

Shortly after the album announcement, Swift posted the album cover to her Instagram. Between white sheets, the artist is styled in a sheer tank from The Row and YSL briefs. With the tank falling off her shoulder, the look gives an inviting yet intimate feel. If Taylor decides to keep up this aesthetic for the rest of the era, I’d love to see her styled in some looks from Christian Siriano’s Fall 2024 Ready-To-Wear collection, which styles neutrals with heavy drapery, playing off of the sensual style that we’ve already seen so far.

There’s so much we don’t know yet about this new stylistic choice and the album’s themes. Will the album consist of heartbreaking stories about the end of her and Joe Alwyn’s relationship, or can we expect new love songs about Travis Kelce? I can only hope it plays into this sultry and sexy, undressed vibe that we’ve been shown so far in her new style – a look that Taylor has never played around with before. Only time will tell, and I for one am so excited to see where The Tortured Poets Department takes her style.
