Fall Nail Inspo
Everyone knows pretty nails fix everything.
by MADISON SHERMAN ★ NOVEMBER 16, 2023
Stressing about your next mani? Please. No need to worry when this season has endless nail inspiration to offer. From OPI and Essie's Fall Nail Collections to unique fall nail art, such as micro-french, multicolor swirls, or black chrome, there’s just so much to be excited about. Wait. You can’t forget about cozy hues like plum purple or olive green. It’s impossible to choose just one design this season.
Thus, let me help you nail, pun-intended (cue to eye-roll), this season’s top nail trends so you select your pick and take the season by storm.
Big Zodiac Energy (OPIS Fall 2023 Collection)
In honor of the fall season, you could say OPI went the celestial route, funneling their admiration for the stars and elements with their all-new enchanting zodiac shades. Each polish features a vibrant color with shimmery hints that play into the zodiac signs’ personality traits. The collection includes, and is not limited to, “The Leo-nly One” in show-stopping pearly gold and “Feelin’ Libra-ted,” a potent yet balanced sparkly violet color. All regular polishes are sold for $11.49.
Step out of line (Essie’s Fall 2023 Collection)
Opposite of enchanting, Essie introduces six moody fall shades centered around the idea of dancing your negative feels out on the dance floor all night long. Regular shades go for $10 and include “Underground Ball,” a plum purple with red undertones; “Lights Down, music up,” a mauve brown also with red undertones; and “Dance ‘til Dawn,” an extremely light pink with muted gray and white features. My personal favorite from this collection is “Meet Me at Midnight,” a deep olive green with yellow undertones.
Salon Styles
Micro-French
Perfect for those who want to keep things simpler, a thin French line, no matter the color, elevates a French nail and looks way cooler. Something about short square nails paired with a micro-french just works so well, appearing clean and purely seamless.
Multicolor Swirls
Swirl nail designs are everywhere. Experts say we are entering the abstract nail art area (Ooh la la) and multicolor swirls are proving to be fan favorites on well-manicured nails all over social media. Try neutral tones like tans and creams for fall.
Black Chrome
Interested in spicing up a black nail? Add a chrome finish and voila! The chrome trend is on its rise and adding a color, like black, makes you instantly different from everyone else (in a good way, duh). These nails also provide a nice transition from the fall to winter season. Let’s thank icon Zola Ganzorigt for creating the highly-praised glazed donut trend dubbed by Hailey Bieber.
Shapes
The Squoval
An oval and square hybrid with rounded edges on a squarish nail is personally always my go-to but is destined to be hot this season, taking the place of almond nails. Squovals (fancy word, right) are easy, cost-effective, and elegant.
Stiletto nails
Subtle stiletto nails are all the rage, especially short ones. However, no matter the length, these nails are shaped with a sharp touch at the tip to give off bold energy and make a statement.
Opt for these two styles at salons or at home with your own file.
We hope with this, you are left with inspiration. Whether you consider yourself a single-color type of girl, an all-out nail art type of girl, a short nail girl, or a long nail girl, this season has got you covered, and I can’t wait to see what you all choose.
