Making Tennis Cool Again

And looking hot while doing it.

We can be honest and admit that we thought tennis was a retirement hobby that lacked style and youth. Recently, with pickleball and tennis becoming popular with 20-somethings, tennis has become the “it” sport that is fun, trendy, and makes us feel like we come from a family with old money. As the hottest sport of the summer, especially with exciting events like the US Open, Wimbledon, and Japan Open, we have something to keep us occupied all season long when we’re not practicing how to do a backhand and not look silly.

It’s Time to Upgrade Our Hobbies

Let’s admit it, the closer we get to graduating college the more we realize that we need to start forming new hobbies outside of our day job since we don’t have the easy and free access of frat row anymore. For me, I started playing tennis during my summer internship and I refused to go from being in a building all day just to go to another building to go to the gym when the weather was beautiful outside. I assembled my slightly athletic girlfriends and we had fun being outside and trying to teach ourselves how to play and becoming immersed when we started sending Wimbledon clips to each other saying “This will be us one day…if we ever make the ball go over the net.”

The “It Girl” herself: Morgan Riddle

WAGS are making a comeback in the best way this year. And there is nothing funnier than watching men get angry because we know the players because of the WAGS. In simpler terms, a WAG is a wife or girlfriend of an athlete; typically a high profile one. In football terms, we are talking Alix Earle and the newest WAG; the queen herself Taylor Swift. If you already don’t know her, Morgan Riddle is dating the #1 Male American Tennis player; Taylor Fritz. Not only is she incredibly elegant and fun, but she brings a new money approach to tennis that is youthful and graceful and it speaks volumes through her personal style. We’re addicted to seeing her style level up and accel game by game. In this article, not only are we adding a new hobby to your life, but we’re helping you look hot whether you’re attending or playing a match.

For the Attendees:

Whether you realize playing may not be for you, or you want to take your passion to the next level and start attending matches, Here are some youthful and elegant looks to wear to the matches.

We’re starting with a bang but nothing says US Open like wearing a sexy red outfit to show your pride. A simple outfit like this shows that we don’t have to be boring and lose our sex appeal in order to be taken seriously and look elegant. Not only is her Chanel tweed skirt easy to find, but tweed is often the textile we associate with old money and class, which is a perfect match for tennis.

This outfit has to be my all-time favorite of hers. Not only is it sexy and elegant, but it is easy to go from the match to dinner or bar where you look elevated, but it still can be taken more casually to go out in. Morgan Riddle is known for spicing up her basic looks and in this look, her leather boots are paired with what would seem like a plain white dress to the untrained eye, but the wave-like design on her dress gives her outfit depth and a taste of trendiness. This is what I like to call a chef’s kiss.

For the players:

Yay! We are starting a new hobby now. It's time to find something to wear on the court. Of course, as most of us girls, I am always more excited to work out when I have a cute outfit on and tennis is not only known for the game but for the chic aesthetic and style on the court.

If you couldn’t tell from this article, I love a good red. Not only is it a fun and exciting color, but it looks great on so many different skin tones and accentuates our body without having to worry about sweating through your new outfit. Of course, if you have seen anything tennis-related, you understand the staple of the tennis skirt. Tennis skirts are a great way to make your outfit feminine and functiona

Whether it’s tennis, pickleball, or racquetball, it is a great way to showcase your style in an elevated way that doesn’t limit us from having fun on the court. I personally love this outfit for playing tennis in the fall because you have the option to layer when playing in the chilly weather. In addition, most of us probably have these items in our closet that we can pair together so we don’t have to worry about breaking the bank when starting a new hobby.

Hopefully, I convinced you at this point that tennis is fun, cool and sexier than ever. Not only is it the hottest sport that my friends and I have casually picked up (and become quite competitive with!), but it also allows us to show our individuality when working out without having to lose our personal style. After all, athleisure fashion and accessories are to die for. Whether you’re on the court as an attendee or playing, not only do you have a fun hobby that is elevated as we transition from college to post-grad, but you look cute while doing it.
