Our Favorite Up-And-Coming Influencers

The budding social media stars you need to check out RTFN.

by CAROLINE DELISLE ★ JULY 4, 2020

You’ve heard of the big names like Emma Chamberlain (the queen of relatable content), James Charles (we are self-proclaimed sisters ourselves), and Hannah Meloche (the physical embodiment of sunshine), but there are SO many more out there to fangirl about. One of our favorite sources of inspiration—whether it be for food, fashion, makeup, lifestyle, or whatever else is piquing our interest at the moment—is social media influencers and gurus. Supporting lesser-known influencers with our attention and fandom can not only help out these hardworking individuals trying to make it big in the social media sphere, but it can also broaden our own understanding of what it means to be influential, trendsetting, and even a human in today’s world. We’ve compiled a list of some of our top up-and-coming influencers who are breaking the mold of influencer status quo and bringing unique styles, personalities, and perspectives to our feeds.

With a name as cool as Winter, how can you not be a queen?! Winter Chee is a beauty and travel blogger based in Singapore, and her rosy aesthetic is to die for. On her blog, she reviews skincare treatments, workouts, makeup, and clothing, alongside documenting her excursions to beautiful cities, or her cafe dates with alpacas (peep the article here)! Her life is incredible and we can’t help but be jealous while we live vicariously through her page.

Avrey Ovard (@avreyovard):

The queen of the resurrected Tumblr aesthetic, Avrey Ovard has us wanting to scrap our insta and start from scratch with a visually appealing dreamy theme like hers. We love how she balances her mature, artistic side with her I’m-a-teen-trying-to-figure-things-out personality. Her eye for interior decor and her ever-changing style makes her an iconic internet personality we love to keep up with. Check out her Vogue-inspired DIY editorial photoshoot here for a fun and creative quarantine activity that we are obsessed with.

From açaí bowls to small business recs, Cindy does it all and does it in color! Her bright boho style is idyllic for summer and her earring collection is unmatched. We adore her flea market vlogs and “Latina Mukbangs”! Check out her makeup routine for when you’re running late here. Her quick and easy steps are perfect for when you’re rushing out the door!

Venita Aspen (@venitaaspen):

Venita is another ray of digital sunshine. Working with brands like Lilly Pulitzer and Kate Spade has put her on our radar as one to watch, not to mention the beautiful content she puts out! She also has a blog devoted (but not limited) to all things fashion-and-beauty that we would definitely recommend you check out.

Massy Arias (@massy.arias):

If you’ve been in need of some fitness motivation, look no further! Massy posts muscle-toning, fat-burning, summer-bod-achieving workout routines on her YouTube channel and her Instagram while also chronicling her life with her adorable daughter. That’s right, she’s a mom and she looks like that! Mind blown.

Lucy Massam (@l_massam):

Lucy’s presence on the internet has undoubtedly made it a better place. From vlogging her amazing life at UC Santa Barbara and her experience in Kappa Alpha Theta, to promoting mental health and speaking candidly about her own struggles with depression and how she copes, Lucy’s channel is beautiful and provides a refreshing approach to influencing. Not to mention she came out as bisexual last year in a down-to-earth, candid video which you can find here. Also, Lucy and her gf Hannah are truly relationship goals and define OTP.

Jazzmyne Robbins (@jazzmynejay):

ASOS insider, BuzzFeed video producer, body positivity advocate, New York Fashion Week runway model, Rihanna stan… the list goes on for Jazzmyne Robbins and we are here for all of it. Her content is fresh, progressive, and outside the box. Her BuzzFeed series As/Is covers topics from fashion and beauty to advocacy and current events. Check out her NYFW video to watch her redefine the runway with a strut that has Gigi and Kendall quaking.

Damon and Jo (@damonandjo):

Warning: content could cause an intense urge to sell all of your possessions and travel the world. Damon and Jo make up the most iconic duo on YouTube as they document their experiences as multilingual travel gurus. They portray the reality of traveling the world on a budget and do so in fun, artsy videos and vlogs. We especially love their $20 city comparisons like this one where they compare what 20 euros can buy you in Rome versus in Paris. The way they can seamlessly transition between multiple different languages is incredible to watch and definitely motivates us to “get up and go!”

Tatiana Ringsby (@tringsby):

Tati leads an extraordinary life of surfing at her family home in Hawaii with her boyfriend to bouncing back and forth between LA and NY modeling. And she’s not just a pretty face. Tati devotes a lot of her content to chronicling her battles with eating disorders, promoting positivity and kindness, and advocating for environmental conscientiousness. Her most recent project was starting her own line of environmentally sustainable clothing! With all of these successes, we always find ourselves forgetting she’s only 20 years old! Peep www.pronouncedtatchi.com to check out her merch, and “without further ado, subscribe if you’re new” to her YouTube channel for some iconic tringsby content.

Kristin Johns (@kristinjohns):

Kristin’s wholesome videos with her husband Marcus and their two golden retrievers all living their best life are the absolute cutest. Not to mention her retro style, country-garden-style home, and incredibly kind disposition, this girl has really got it all. Her and Marcus’ wedding video is like something out of a fairytale. We also insist you check out her brand Kristin Made for all the country-chic inspo you could ever need.

We can all agree that supporting small businesses is super important and benefits both the business owner and ourselves. The same goes for influencers trying to grow their brands! Their jobs are literally to be in the know of all trends while setting some of their own, and keeping up with those who do this in a compassionate and conscientious way is good for the influencer and good for developing our personal sense of self. Keep an eye out for these and other budding gurus in the social media sphere and remember that who we support and who influences us has an impact on more than just our closets.
