Grab your blue hair dye and dust off your Kylie Jenner lip kits- The King has returned. Kylie Jenner has revived her 2014 “King Kylie” era, and the internet is spiraling (in the best way possible). But why are we all of a sudden obsessed with going back in time? If you were on Tumblr or Instagram in 2014, I'm sure you remember this iconic era where Kylie was carrying the game. From her chokers to her blue hair, down to her iconic lip kits in every color imaginable. Well, she's back. Kylie Jenner just debuted a 2014 inspired blue dip dyed hairstyle AND a throwback Kylie cosmetic drop, and the internet is going wild!

TikTok is flooded with edits of the old Kylie before her minimalist, clean girl rebrand, and fans are calling it “the return of the real Kylie”. This return sparks greater conversation within gen z regarding the obsession of nostalgia.

From winged eyeliner to 2010’s Tumblr core, we're seeing a lot of beauty trends come full circle. College girls everywhere are swapping slick backs for messy beach waves, matte lips for gloss, and clean girl aesthetic for bold statement pieces. The girlies are really channeling their personalities - an aesthetic that's authentic, rebellious, and fun. It's interesting that in the midst of school stress, global uncertainty, and media pressure nostalgia has become a form of comfort and self expression. Kylie's revival reminds us of a time where trends felt carefree and fun - where selfies were unfiltered and lip kits were the biggest thing out.

This return of King Kylie also mirrors a cultural shift happening in beauty routines. Instead of following one routine or trend, the girls are mixing it up and trying fun things. Pairing 2010 eyeliner trends with blue lips, or glowy makeup with 2000s shimmer eyeshadow. The results? A more personal, nostalgic, and unapologetic take on beauty.

So whether you're dying your hair blue or dusting off your old MAC matte lipstick, this trend is your sign to embrace the throwbacks. The Tumblr era is officially back and never looked this good!
