The Downfall of Cody Ko
Everything you need to know.

“This wasn’t just some crazy tea; it was a crime.” Cody Ko is one of the most beloved YouTubers around, but he has recently been under fire for allegedly hooking up with YouTuber Tana Mongeau when he was 25 and she was 17. The response to these allegations has been overwhelming, and in case you haven't heard all of the details, we are here to catch you up.
In the wake of these allegations, the popular channel “The Button” which is known for collabs with Cody Ko has taken down every video associated with him. The popular podcast Emergency Intercom, hosted by Drew Phillips and Enya Umanzor, has announced that they have cut ties with Cody Ko just weeks after making a deal to be on his podcast network. Cody has not walked away from this unharmed and refused to put out a statement until fairly recently since he was facing backlash after playing the song “Sorry” by Justin Bieber during one of his DJ sets. The statement includes that he will be stepping down from his own podcast studio, TMG Studios, to focus on behind the scenes and will not be in front of the camera anymore.
Tana Mongeau recently admitted to hooking up with Cody Ko during a Q and A for one of her Cancelled tour stops, “I can say that. I was literally seventeen.” This clip started going viral and fans were not having it with Cody Ko. Around this time Tana was early to her internet fame, and Cody had just come off of Vine, looking for success on YouTube. They both had a lot to gain by collaborating with one another, and one of their collaborations still lives on YouTube to this day.
After setting the record straight on a paywalled Patreon episode of Canceled, Tana discusses how Cody knew her age since fellow YouTuber Gabbie Hanna tried looking out for Tana by having a conversation with him. What is inspiring about Tana’s statement and her perception of the events currently is that she admitted it was something she wanted at the time, but now she would do everything in her power to stop it from happening to another child.
We hope Cody Ko continues to get the backlash he deserves, and we are sending Tana so much love and support.
