Bring out the platinum wig, oversized sunglasses, skinny scarf and black convertible Ford Mustang because Miley Stewart, or should I say Hannah Montana, is back in town, baby! To celebrate the 20th anniversary of one of its most defining 2000s pop culture phenomena, Disney is feeding into the trend of nostalgic comebacks with the announcement of Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special.

In a 16-second Instagram reel posted by Disney+ on February 17, 2026, the special’s announcement featured the show’s filming location, Stage 9 at Sunset Bronson Studios, a black Ford Mustang pulling up with a plate number that reads “HM 20” and a snippet of a black pointed leather knee-high stiletto boot leaving the car.

Produced by HopeTown Entertainment and Unwell Productions, the special celebrates two women who have made their mark in the industry. With Alex Cooper of Unwell Productions being anointed as one of the most listened to podcasts (Call Her Daddy) and Tish Cyrus-Purcell of HopeTown Entertainment building the Cyrus family’s entertainment brand. This special is giving us the best of both worlds!

To help make sure you don’t miss out on what should be a national holiday, below is everything you need to know about the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special:

So… When can we tune in?

The special premieres on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Although no specific time has been officially announced, the special is expected to drop at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET, following usual Disney+ release schedules.

Who will make an appearance? Will the iconic father-daughter duo bless our eyes?

As anticipated, Miley Cyrus will be the star of the special, with co-creator of “Call Her Daddy” and interviewer Alex Cooper hosting and guiding fans through this nostalgic celebration.

Although the production’s original franchise included Billy Ray Cyrus, Emily Osment, Mitchel Musso, Jason Earles and Moises Arias, as well as several guest stars such as The Jonas Brothers and Taylor Swift, none of them have formally announced their cameo in the special. However, considering that this is a tribute to one of Disney’s most revered franchises, there’s a slim chance that we might see familiar faces with Cyrus onscreen. Not getting your hopes high, but who knows… a father-daughter duet to “Butterfly Fly Away” may happen!

What Can We Expect?

Real laughter, real smiles and tears (I’m calling it!). Filmed in front of a live studio audience, the special will feature an exclusive interview with Miley Cyrus, hosted by Alex Cooper, as Cyrus reflects on the creation of the iconic character and the lasting legacy of the show that shaped a generation’s childhood. Viewers can expect never-before-seen footage from the series and recreated sets, including the Stewart family living room and the ultimate dreamland… the Hannah Montana closet.

How can we prepare ourselves?

20 years might’ve flown by, but I think we all need a recap. To keep the enthusiasm over the roof, stream the “Hannah Montana” Collection or dive deeper into the double life with a non-stop Stream featuring all four seasons of the show, “Hannah Montana: The Movie” and “Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concert” on Disney +.

If you opt to sing your heart out, here are two (Spotify) playlists you can jam out to while driving or through your earphones whenever you're feeling nostalgic and want to scratch that itch:

Hannah Montana The Movie

Safe to say March 24 will be blocked out on my calendar for the premiere. Excitement is an understatement, and I hope you feel the same way. As for Cyrus? She is as well. In a recent statement released by Disney+, she mentions that “Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection.” She added, “The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of. This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.” Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, commends the series’ impact: “‘Hannah Montana’ opened the door for so many fans to dream big, sing loud, and embrace every side of themselves, which is why its legacy continues to shine across generations.”

Wishing everyone an advanced Hannahversary!
