Brat, But Make It Bridal

The wedding bells are ringing — and no, it’s not just “Talk talk.” On July 19, Charli XCX traded her signature brat green for bride white, tying the knot with her fiancé of two years, George Daniel, at a London town hall. The ceremony was intimate, marking a rare, understated moment for the usually high-energy pop star.

Considering Charli XCX is the blueprint of the ultimate party girl, many assumed the wedding would be a full-on pop culture spectacle. Instead, the two said “I do” at Hackney Town Hall in front of a small group of loved ones, including Charli’s parents and Daniel’s bandmates. Charli wore an elegant, ultra-chic Vivienne Westwood corseted mini dress paired with white heels, a veil and a bouquet of white flowers. Her hair was styled in a sleek blowout, while George kept it classic in a tailored black suit. And, of course, there was a signature Charli touch: as a nod to her go-to look, she slipped on a pair of black sunnies for their stroll to the reception. Yes, they literally walked to and from their wedding — as if it were just another casual walk in the park. Effortless, undeniably cool and the kind of nonchalant energy every bride dreams of pulling off (but only Charli actually could).

The “party 4 u” singer first spilled the engagement tea (literally) to George Daniel, the 1975’s drummer, on her private Instagram in late 2023. A little later, she took it public with a post on her main account: a photo of a tea tray with an engagement ring on it captioned, “charli xcx and george daniel f---ing for life!!!” Since then, the two have been anything but low-key, popping up at each other’s shows, DJing boiler room sets, and even collaborating in the studio. Daniel co-wrote and produced select tracks on “Brat,” marking the first time Charli has made music with a romantic partner — a fact she’s admitted is a new dynamic for her.

The couple's comfortability on social media showed, even on their wedding day. While the day started as DeuxMoi speculation and paparazzi snaps (that looked like a scene out of a movie), Charli XCX took to TikTok to clear the rumors herself. In true Charli fashion, she jumped on one of the platform’s biggest trends, using her own track “Girl, so confusing featuring lorde,” where users film themselves strutting before turning dramatically. Her take? A cheeky on-screen text reading, “when George isn’t crying when he sees me walking down the aisle,” with the follow-up reassurance in the caption: “luckily he did xx.”

Later, she followed it up with another TikTok set to “Like a G6,” captioned, “bridal party energy!” The clip shows the couple and their friends turning a hotel room into a post-ceremony party complete with a brat-green matchbox, a digital camera and George flaunting Charli’s veil as it blows in the wind. Charli, emerges in her after-party look — a breezy, long-sleeve white dress — as she throws open the curtains, solidifying her status as the effortlessly cool bride of the summer.

It turns out that even a super low-key town hall wedding can still break the internet — if it’s Charli XCX. Then Charli XCX and It’s Completely Different but Also Still Charli XCX is now just Mrs. XCX.

We are wishing the best to the newlyweds!
