Breaking Down the Recent Alex Bennett Controversy
Social media isn’t always what it seems.

If you’re anything like me, your TikTok For You Page has been filled with Alex Bennett’s content. Alex is most known for her videos, where she chats with her baby, Tate. Viewers have loved following along with their little family and watching Tate grow. The joy in her videos is contagious — and definitely baby-fever invoking. Alex and her partner, Harrison Fugman, have since launched a podcast called TwoParentsandAPod. With 24,000 subscribers, the channel’s growing popularity has also brought the couple some unwanted attention.
Alex has always been candid about her life — both past and present. She was previously married to Graham Bennett but divorced from him when she was 29, choosing to leave a marriage to a notably wealthy man because she wanted more for herself and knew it wasn’t fulfilling. After dating Fugman for only a short time, she realized he was her future and decided to have a baby with him. Alex has been clear that this was entirely her choice, and she continues to find happiness in that decision.
Of course, people will always have something to say. TikTok creators have been uploading short clips from the podcast, and have been criticizing Fugman and their relationship. Despite the adorable videos I keep seeing on the family’s pages, I also come across plenty of videos sending hate their way. Most of the backlash is directed towards Fugman. Some people have even stated that Fugman clearly hates Alex. Her comment section has been flooded with concerns about their relationship, disguising their words as support for Alex. But, Alex has stated many times that she is extremely happy, going as far to categorize it as the “happiest chapter” of her life so far.
While commenters may think their words come from a good place, Alex has made it clear she feels offended, and we can’t blame her. Not only do these comments criticize her relationship with Fugman, her partner and the father of her child, but they also indirectly criticize her own judgment. By questioning her choice of partner, they imply she’s helpless in her own life. In reality, Alex divorced at a young age and has firsthand experience walking away from a situation that no longer served her.
In a recent podcast episode, at timestamp 54:24, Alex and Fugman addressed the situation. Alex defended him and assured viewers she is happy with her family dynamic. Ultimately, according to her, it comes down to podcast episodes they posted and random people on the internet taking them out of context.
Creating and sharing content brings happiness to Alex and Fugman, and they love to share their family life and build a community of parents online. The recent drama won’t change their relationship; it will only harm their social media presence if it continues. We hope they’re able to continue finding enjoyment through social media and sharing their adorable family with us.
