The 2025 Super Bowl had viewers nervous at the edge of their seats, as the game held potential for the Chiefs to hold the national title for a third year in a row. To the surprise of some, the Eagles ended up claiming a victory through a riveting game of unmatched defense, and dominating offensive plays. Thanks to Cooper DeJean’s marvelous interception, the Eagles were immediately up by 24 points in just the first half. Happy 22nd birthday to you, DeJean!

The first touchdown of the game was achieved by Jalen Hurts through an impressive 28-yard pass to Jahan Dotson. Dotson not only assisted the Eagles in this first touchdown, but further demonstrated his capabilities when he performed two receptions for 42 yards. While Patrick Mahomes strongly completed three of his first six passes, unfortunately the Chiefs were unable to pass midfield on their first two possessions. Thus, the Eagles took the lead right off the bat.

Philadelphia’s defensive coordinator Vic Fangio got revenge on Kansas City, turning his previous losses against Mahomes into a “puzzle to shut down Patrick Mahomes.” This “puzzle” practically built the blueprint for Philadelphia’s conquering of the Kansas City quarterback. What a comeback, Fangio!

Unfortunately, the Chiefs’ star Travis Kelce did not catch a single pass in the first two quarters, ultimately being neutralized by the ferocity of the Eagles’ offense. Everyone’s favorite Chiefs player was far from their favorite that night. There was no doubt that audiences were disappointed by Kelce’s game, as fans even went so far as to “boo” his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, when she appeared on the jumbotron. Judging as Swift sold out the exact stadium during her “Era’s Tour,” the ‘boo’ seemed highly uncalled for. Let’s not forget how influential Swift has been on football this year, raising the teen girl NFL viewership by 53 percent.

By the time the halftime show rolled around, Eagles were getting the gatorade poured, while the Chiefs were chugging for some energy. Chiefs fans were still holding on to some hope. Kendrick Lamar dissolved the tension a bit, though, when he took the stage accompanied by Uncle Sam, played by Samuel L. Jackson, SZA, and DJ Mustard, and racked in a record-breaking 133 million viewers to his halftime show. As if the Super Bowl didn’t already have viewers surprised, Kendrick brought out one of the most influential athletes of all time on stage with him: Serena Williams. Likely still on cloud 9 from his Grammy wins, Lamar truly put on the performance of a lifetime. He rocked the crowd by dissing Drake in his lyrics, and bedazzled the stage with his somewhat unexpected flared jeans.

Back to the game. By the third quarter, the Eagles were up 34-0 as the result of a nearly flawless 46-yard pass from Hurts to Devonte Smith. Luckily for the Chiefs, DeAndre Hopkins scored a touchdown in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, bringing the score to 14-40. With just moments to spare, Xavier Worthy scored a second touchdown of the game, resulting in a final score of 22-40. Anything is better than losing by 40 points, right?

As head coach Nick Sirianni was coated in pure gatorade by his athletes, the color being yellow, for those who placed bets on it, Eagles fans breathed a sigh of relief as the realization of their victory sunk in. The Chiefs appeared distraught by their fate, and Travis Kelce was even spotted in a bedazzled, glimmering suit as he left the Super Bowl, implying to viewers that he did not have an alternative outfit for potential disappointment. Unfortunately, his confidence was met with a pretty horrendous loss. DeJean certainly had a memorable birthday, basking in green confetti being blasted all around the stadium. The Eagles now hold two Super Bowl titles and will likely continue to dazzle the country with their playing skills. The Eagles parade is scheduled to occur on Valentines day in Philadelphia. And we can tell you one thing for sure, love will undoubtedly be in the air.
