Zendaya Leaves Us Speechless… Again
All you need to know about our fave actress’s recent win.

“Sunday Scaries” are something we all know far too well. Whether you are trying to recover from a night out or just feeling blue about the weekend coming to a close, Sunday Scaries are real and can sometimes feel incurable. That was until (drum roll please)… HBO Max fed us what we all needed. For 8 magnificent Sundays, millions of people all around the world cozied up to watch the newest (and crazier than the last) episode of Euphoria season two. In each episode, our fearless leader… (and executive producer) Zendaya, had a uniquely special impact on the audience through her realistic and stunning portrayal of struggling teen, Rue Bennett. Euphoria (an American adaptation of the Israeli show with the same name) follows the life of teenager Rue, who is a struggling drug addict fresh from rehab with no plans to stay clean. The show follows many people within Rue’s life and can be both incredibly relatable, portraying the average day-to-day struggles of an American teen, while also being incredibly twisted and heartbreaking.
As we impatiently wait for season three of Euphoria to be released, Zendaya fans all over the world can feel proud and inspired after watching our favorite actress’s success at the recent 74th Primetime Emmy Awards. The Emmy awards this year were hosted by comedian/actor Kenan Thompson and featured many memorable speeches and wins, and also something that had never been seen before.
At only 26 years old, Zendaya made history as she became the youngest two-time winner for outstanding lead actress in a drama series (which she won in 2020 for the same role). This recent victory also made her the first black woman to ever win twice in this category. Just let that sink in.
In her acceptance speech, Zendaya thanked Euphoria's creator, Sam Levinson for “sharing Rue with me” and for “believing in me even in moments where I didn’t believe in myself.” By sharing such vulnerability, Zendaya is not only an actress but a human being that people can look up to and connect with. In the footage of the Emmys, you can actually feel the excitement, support, and pride for her within that room. It's palpable.
She then speaks directly to the audience when she shares, “My greatest wish for Euphoria was that it could help heal people.”
Some stars wish for money and fame… not Zendaya. She is as genuine and kind as they come. Through this honesty and bravery… she has touched the lives of so many. We love.
Finally, Zendaya thanks those who have shared their stories with her. She says, “I want you to know that anyone who has loved a Rue or feels like they are a Rue, I want you to know I’m so grateful for your stories and I carry them with me, and I carry them with her.”
Okay, could Zendaya be any better? Only SHE would be so selfless to make one of the biggest moments in her life…about others… once again, the pinnacle of classy.
Deservingly, Zendaya's power and reach are incredibly wide. Some of us know and love Zendaya not just from Euphoria but from Disney's hit shows Shake it Up and KC Undercover. Others may be fans of films such as The Greatest Showman or Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far from Home. It’s evident how powerful of an impact Zendaya has had on so many young people throughout these years, specifically young black women. She is the representation we need to see on the screen and we applaud her for carrying this responsibility with such grace and gratitude.
Now, this is an award show and Zendaya is the queen of the red carpet so we would be remiss not to not talk about her absolutely stunning look. Styled by Law Roach (as always), Zendaya slipped into a black, custom Valentino gown, said to be inspired by Old Hollywood and Grace Kelly. She wore her hair pulled back with a silk hair piece, accompanied by a dazzlingly sparkly ring and choker. Her beauty on the outside, no doubt, matches the beauty inside. Not only did she win an actual Emmy, but she won the publics and our stamp of approval for this look. Nice job girl.
The world is once again charmed and captivated by Zendaya's maturity, beauty and genuine attitude. We thank the Emmys for temporarily giving us some content of our favorite woman and now we will all go back to gushing over you and waiting for season three of Euphoria.
