Oscars Best-Dressed List 2022

These looks absolutely slapped.

by VIVIAN LI ★ MARCH 31, 2022

Like the late Oscar Wilde once said “One should either be a work of art or wear a work of art.” The 94th Academy Awards is the perfect time to honor the versatility of art from cinematography to animation. We already know Hollywood’s top stars can deliver lines, but can they deliver on the red carpet too?  Keep reading to find out who made our best-dressed list on the year’s most prestigious night of entertainment.

Naomi Scott

Naomi Scott brought fierceness to the red carpet with a royal purple gown and slicked-back bob. I mean she is royalty, after all, this is Princess Jasmine we’re talking about. Her custom Fendi dress featured an elegant work of floral embroidery with a removable cape, making her demanding presence unforgettable.

Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion wore a gorgeous high slit gown that reminded us she is the hot girl, she is the stallion. The dress had a dramatic but not excessive train that ruffled up at the end and overall looked like it could be in an art exhibition. Paired graciously with white-gold jewelry, Stuart Weitzman sandals, and a soft glam, it’s hard to take your eyes off Miss Megan when she continues to outdo herself.

Kodi Smit-McPhee

Not only did the young actor’s captivating performance in The Power of the Dog awe audiences—which was nominated for Best Picture—but Smit-McPhee was undoubtedly one of the best-dressed men this year. His monochrome Bottega suit added a refreshing pop of color to the red carpet and was certainly a nice diversion from the usual black suit and tie. And if his perfectly tailored pastel suit wasn’t enough to be grand, he was dripping with diamonds–Cartier, of course.

Tati Gabrielle

From the platinum blonde braids to the shimmery inner highlight, Tati Gabrielle truly looked like an IRL angel. Especially for her first Oscars, the “You” star definitely understood the assignment. Her whole look gives an aura of Greek Goddess/Old Hollywood, and the fact that the dress was designed from biodegradable materials makes it more fascinating.

Simu Liu

Speaking of Oscars debuts—Simo Liu looked dashing at this year’s Academy Awards especially since red is without a doubt his signature color. His bold suit is made by the one and only Donatella Versace, and as he matches with the carpet, he still manages to stand out. It’s safe to say we are looking forward to more red carpet looks with the Shang-Chi actor.

Diane Guerrero

Haters will say black and white is boring, but Diane Guerrero proves them wrong as she wears a polka dot gown made exclusively by Carolina Herrera. Her mismatched gloves, mini purse, ponytail updo—everything complements each other so well. Guerrero and her stylists found the perfect medium between fun and classy for this year’s Oscars.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman is perhaps the prime example of aging like fine wine. Kidman gives Cinderella a run for her money as she stuns in her custom Armani silk dress. Additionally, her bold red lip and Harry Weinstein necklace make up for such a timeless look, which is fitting for one of Hollywood’s top-paid actresses.

Wesley Snipes

At first glance, one might disagree with the bermuda shorts, especially at such a high-class event like the Oscars. However, I like the unconventional look compared to the usual tuxedos we see constantly. Wesley Snipes shows us that fashion is all about confidence, and confidence can make anything look good–I mean look at that smile! Also, they're not your average bermuda shorts, they’re Givenchy. Snipes' seemingly contradictory look goes easy on the eyes as he succeeds at looking expensive.

Demi Singleton

We all know the saying less is more, and Demi Singleton did just that. Her dress is a lovely shade of purple embellished with crystals, which is so on-brand for Miu Miu. As for her makeup and hair, she kept it simple with a high ponytail and a natural glam, which is fine since her satin gown was the star of the night.

Honorable mentions:

Jay Ellis

Zoe Kravitz

Timothee Chalamet

Rachel Zegler

Zendaya

While the majority of household names looked invariably stunning, this year's first-time Oscar attendees sure did dress to impress. Let us know who made your best-dressed list for this year’s Academy Awards!
