Black Content Creators to Follow RN

Because you need them in your feed.

by PEYTON SURPRENANT ★ SEPTEMBER 27, 2020

Since the incredible resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement this past year, so many people have been taking to social media to show their solidarity. While some of these posts were definitely quite informative, let’s be real; some of it was performative activism that eventually began to wither away. Black Lives Matter is not a trend; we must keep the movement going! In order to be better allies, we must educate ourselves and expand our social circle–that includes social media. Here’s a list of some of my current favorite and most inspiring Black content creators at the moment:

Taylor Giavasis

INSTAGRAM: @g1avasis @thenakediaries

Taylor Giavasis is a lifestyle influencer whose content is all about sustainability, body positivity, and being a young mom. She is the founder of @thenakediaries, a body-posi blog that is meant to end any stigma surrounding women’s bodies and showcase the beauty of the female form. She and her partner Nash Grier (remember him?!) document the life of their son, Malakai, on their joint YouTube channel.

Tabitha Brown

INSTAGRAM & TIKTOK: @iamtabithabrown

Dubbed the “World’s Favorite Mom,” Tabitha Brown found her community on TikTok through posting delicious vegan cooking videos. Her joyous, soulful personality reminds her followers of motherly love. She currently does motivational speaking where she shares how a plant-based lifestyle helped her mental health (which is something we could all benefit from).

Kali Ledger

Makeup artist Kali Ledger is taking social media by storm with her bold, editorial looks. With over 130k followers on Instagram, she’s using her platform to uplift other Black content creators and promote makeup trends. She strives to hold makeup brands accountable for their lack of diversity and inclusivity.

Laetitia KY

INSTAGRAM & TIKTOK: @laetitiaky

Laetitia KY is an artist living on the Ivory Coast famous for using her own hair to create statement art pieces (how sick is that?!). Having confessed to not liking her hair as a child, she was inspired to use her hair as her art medium, which has allowed her to embrace her natural beauty. Her goal is to use her hair to send messages of equality, tolerance, and self-love.

An 18 year old dancer living in Los Angeles, Charlize Glass has dominated the dance scene after being discovered in viral Kyle Hanagami dance videos. She competed on the third season of popular TV show World of Dance, and she is currently building her own hip-hop dance studio, Glasshouse, located in Los Angeles.
