Netflix's newest must-watch miniseries.

“The Haunting of Bly Manor” is the latest in Netflix originals, and we’re obsessed. This miniseries follows two orphans whose uncle sets up au pair after au pair to move out to the country and stay in an isolated house, Bly Manor. When faced with strange occurrences, the newest au pair, Ms. Clayton, begins to wonder what she got herself into.
A recent passing in the children’s lives combined with the au pair’s troubled background leaves us wondering if this pairing will work out. With only a cook, gardener, and housekeeper to keep her company, Ms. Clayton is mostly on her own with the kids, left to keep track of them and what their uncle describes as their “vivid imagination.” With no help from the police after a few strange encounters, Ms. Clayton must take the safety of the children, herself, and her staff into her own hands, so she decides to explore.
This short series has everything. It takes audiences back in time to explore the past (which makes it easier to understand) while simultaneously not fully revealing how everything is connected until the very last episode. A look inside the trauma behind love and loss from all perspectives gets us hooked from the very beginning. This captivating thriller and ghost story looks into a house's history while covering topics such as trauma, mental illness, exploration of sexual identity, and adultery.
A sequel to “The Haunting of Hill House,” this is a must-watch that will keep you on your toes from beginning to end. The miniseries is filmed in the same house and with some of the main characters from “The Haunting of Hill House,” including Victoria Pedretti, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Henry Thomas, Kate Siegel, and Carla Gugino. This is something I would recommend for someone who's looking to binge a short, captivating, and complex TV show that might just leave them wanting to sleep with the lights on.
