Weeks at Syracuse have a way of blurring together. Between classes, assignments, extracurriculars, and attempting to maintain a social life, things can get busy and stressful. In the middle of those packed days, the small moments in between can make a huge difference. Tiny rituals, the kind that can seem unimportant, can often become some of the things students look forward to most. By fitting in little routines throughout the day, you can reclaim your busy weeks and add a sense of control.

Morning Coffee Run

For me at least, the day doesn’t truly start until I get my first coffee and morning snack. Whether it’s sitting at Collegetown while studying with friends or stopping at Starbucks in between your classes, that short break can feel like a reset before the day starts. Aside from Collegetown and Starbucks, Salt and Haraz are also both within walking distance and are perfect brunch spots. It’s not just about the caffeine and fuel, it’s about the small break in your day, which can make your mornings feel less rushed.

Fresh sheets

Doing laundry isn’t exactly exciting, but getting into a freshly made bed somehow makes everything better. Something as simple as washing your sheets regularly and making your bed every morning can make you feel a little more put together. After a long day of classes, walking into your room and seeing your bed made and waiting for you is a small comfort that goes a long way.

Walks Around Campus

Syracuse can feel surprisingly calm during the quieter parts of the day. Especially as the warmer months approach, a quick walk across the Quad or down Marshall Street before your next class can be a relaxing and refreshing break. Even if it’s only for ten minutes, stepping outside and moving your body gives you a break from screens, assignments, and crowded lecture halls. Sometimes those short walks can be the only moments in the day that feel slow.

Comfort Show Before Bed

At the end of the day, many students have a small routine that helps them unwind. For me, that means watching a couple of episodes of my favorite show before falling asleep. Whether it’s something new or something you’ve rewatched a million times, it gives you a chance to relax after a long day. In the middle of a busy week, escaping into a different universe for a little while can create a sense of comfort before starting the next day.

College is often remembered for the big moments, but the small ones can matter just as much. Whether it’s a coffee run, clean sheets, a walk around campus, or a comfort show before bed, these little rituals offer a break in the middle of a busy week. Sometimes the smallest luxuries are what make college life feel manageable.
