During the long cold Syracuse winters adding a pop of color to your room’s palette is critical. A multipurpose storage/seat is a great place to start! Plus gives guests a place to sit. Or a throw blanket is an easy way to personalize your room and make it feel cozier.

A patterned comforter is an easy way to add personality to your room. It gives you a starting base for a color palette. It also hides any stains or spills. Buying a fuzzy rug is an excellent investment. It interrupts the bland, cold floor of your dorm, giving you more control over your interior design!

String lights are the best for evening relaxation when fluorescent light isn’t the vibe. They come in a wide variety of colors, shapes and sizes. You can find them at almost any home store. Whether your fairy lights are on or off, they are the perfect accessory. Design them in any formation you like!

With the abundance of wall space, a great way to fill it up is with postcards, posters, pictures of your favorite people or brands you're into. Stores like Urban Outfitters offers a great selection or print some out online. Replace and move your posters around is a simple renovation for when you get bored and want to change it up.

Storage, Storage, Storage, oh, and storage! It’s so important in a dorm room. Using the storage space under your bed for clothes, snack boxes and misc items will be a game-changer in decluttering the rest of your room. Add cute cup holders for pencils or makeup brushes on your desk to free up space for homework. When your room is clean, so is your headspace.

Yellow is a great color scheme for a dorm room- it compliments the white cement walls so well. It makes the room cheerful even on a dreary Syracuse day and makes the more extra sunny during golden hours.

It’s the tiny personalized details that bring the room together. Take your favorite postcards, pictures, stickers and clip them to a board, changing it up whenever you need a mini makeover. Succulents are the perfect living friend for the room. They are low maintenance and don’t take up a lot of space.

We are all here for posters as a wallpaper collage. Enough said. Print out clippings from Instagram and the internet. Or grab a pair of scissors and a pile of Vogue magazines. Format your pictures using different shapes, colors and sizes for contrast.

Although the color is encouraged, having all black furniture provides a clean, chic look! If you don’t want over the top, this room is an excellent way to the base of the minimalist look. Bring your lamp and nightstand table from home to transform the dorm into a bedroom.

Pink isn’t just a color; it’s a lifestyle. Bed curtains are a great way to hide storage space underneath your bed. For a more sophisticated look, add frames around posters. By lining colored string lights on top of your wall, it creates a hint of pink to match the theme without making it stand out.

There are endless possibilities when it comes to styling your dorm room for the year. Just by adding minor details to your room, it can make a world of difference. No matter what style you pick, you can’t go wrong!
